Town of Islip Jewish Facts:
84% Jews are not affiliated with any synagogue.
"I am one of the only Jews in Town" an often repeated expression.
Over 80% of Jews living in Town of Islip are an Intermarried or Interfaith Couple.
With these facts, there was a need for an additional resource for local Jews. Hence the Chabad Jewish Center of Islip Township was born.
The Chabad of Islip is accepting of all people regardless of background or affiliation. At Chabad our mantra is "A Jew is a Jew - No Labels". Chabad is a place where young and old, singles and families, where every Jew can feel at home to explore Judaism and make it theirs.
There are no prerequisites for getting involved with Chabad, whether you are affiliated or not, have much Jewish background or none, you are always welcome to try one or all of our programs. We are here to serve you and we will do our best to help you and your family. You do not have to be a member at Chabad, you do not even have to agree with everything Chabad says or does - you just have to be Jewish - and with that you belong.
Every Chabad center creates and runs programs based on what is in the best interest of the local community - trying to cater to their needs and what it can afford to do.
Here are some programs offered by Chabads: Adult Education, Communal Lectures, Holiday programs, Jewish Art Calendar, Synagogue, Hebrew School, Women’s Group, Mitzvah campaign, Mezuzah and Tefillin Checking, Marriage Prep, Kitchen Koshering, Hospital Assisted living visitations, Funeral Services, Crisis Counseling.
If there is something that are not currently providing, let us know - we may be able to facilitate them for you.
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in person.
